Personal Statement:

I come from an Indian background and from an ancient culture where art traditions are seen as a part of life ever evolving and ever changing. I was fostered in my teens, and later married into a Scottish family and had all my education in Britain. I have also travelled widely both in the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and Europe.
It is this fusion of many cultures and values that is the strength of modern art in Britain, and I am proud to be a part of it. I see art as a force freeing people from narrow hide-bound beliefs controlled by religion, ethnicity and culture. It is this intermediate space between belonging and non-belonging that is important for me and that energises my art.
