Figures in the Landscapes

My figures connect the space between objects and build a bridge between the inner and outer reality. By innovating and playing with the male and
female forms and colouring them in multi-colours I am painting a reality that links the inner and outer space with yet another reality of spaces between
objects. This makes my images more real and more magical to me as if they are covered in multi-layered personalities. There is always another layer to
unfold before one reaches the solidity, the truth as defined by the image. By depicting the figures in various shades I am ordering them in a way that
gives them qualities above and beyond the ordinary.

In Indian mythology Gods and Goddesses are represented in different colours. Their bodies have a sense of a greater unknown dimension that is
denied to mere mortals. The questions arise for me - is the purple woman a representation of a goddess or is she representing an aspect we deny? Does
the orange woman's reality differ from mine? Is she perhaps less mundane? These are some of the answers I am trying to find for myself. People to me
are rendered less ordinary when they are represented out of the spectrum of reality and skin colours we know. Similarly, they also rise above race,
class, gender and ethnicity and become larger than life.

The highly patterned worlds they inhabit are equally out of our everyday reality and yet these motifs and patterns are all around us. They fill the
spaces that we do not see. They link solid objects to the spaces in between and form a bridge. This fascination of the figure and its surroundings I
find a challenge to explore in my paintings.
